BEGINNERS: Course starts with basic drawing instruction, starting with simple forms and progressing on to figurative drawing. Most students are ready to paint simple subjects in a few days, some opt to continue drawing for a month or more. When painting traditional versus modern techniques are discussed and put into practice. Considerations of atmospheric and color perspective, juxtaposition of colors and the prismatic flow of light are also discussed.

EXPERIENCED PAINTERS: Some painters paint as they have and get critiqued, others come to La Escuela to learn specific techniques like glazing. Some come to paint because they like the garden, the studios and the ambiance of La Escuela.

THE SCHOOL: The main studio is a high-ceilinged colonial room with a skylight. There is a pretty kitchen, garden and roof top view where students enjoy their coffee breaks. Students are free to paint in the garden.

MATERIALS: All art supplies can be purchased in Mexico.

Tuition
US $180 per month, or US $100 minimum for short time students. New prices starting July 1st: US $240 per month. Short term students, 2 weeks or less: US $140. Special prices for Mexican students.

None, just show up.
